Lauren Long – Dental Hygienist/Therapist
Lauren is one of our dental hygienist/therapists and is based in our Edinburgh practice.
Lauren graduated from The University of Dundee in 2008, with a degree in Oral Health Sciences (Dental Hygiene and Therapy)
Since graduating Lauren has gained experience in working with a wide variety of patients with different needs, in different practice environments. This has included working with anxious patients as well as those with special needs.
Lauren has a particular interest in preventative dentistry, as well as the maintenance of dental implants and has recently become a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists. This has allowed her to keep up to date with the latest techniques and research available within the profession.
Lauren is an active member of the British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists, and regularly attends courses to allow her to improve her knowledge and remain at the forefront of the latest developments in dentistry. She feels that this allows her to maintain an excellent standard of patient care, and enables her patients to have the healthiest, most beautiful smile possible.
As well as the duties of a Hygienist, Dental Therapists are qualified to:
- Extract deciduous teeth
- Undertake the pulp therapy treatment of deciduous teeth.
- Place pre-formed crowns on deciduous teeth.
- Provide emergency temporary replacement of crowns and fillings.
- Treat patients under conscious sedation
- Carry out all direct fillings on
