If you’re considering Invisalign and would like to know more, watch the video below to hear what Laura has to say about the benefits of the treatment, when she decided to straighten her teeth.
An alternative to traditional metal and fixed braces, Cherrybank are able to offer Invisalign invisible braces are an easy and effective way for patients to correct a smile afflicted with spacing, bite, and crowding issues.
Ideal for adults, especially those who don’t want the inconvenience or conspicuous appearance of metal braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic trays to gradually guide the teeth into their proper position in roughly the same amount of time as traditional metal braces.
Unlike traditional metal braces, however, the Invisalign aligning trays are easily removed for meals and brushing.
The Invisalign Process
The Invisalign process begins with a consultation in which our experienced cosmetic dentists will decide whether invisible braces are an appropriate option for you.
We will then create a treatment plan designed to meet your specific oral health needs and make a digital 3D image of your current bite. This allows us to plan the movement of your teeth throughout each stage of treatment and give you an idea of the results you can expect. The number of trays that will then be custom-crafted can vary from 20 to 30 per arch, depending on the extent of your treatment.
Worn daily for the duration of your treatment, Invisalign invisible braces can correct your bite problem and give you a smile you’ll be desperate to show off. Our specific Invisalign diet will help you achieve the best results.
The Invisalign Diet: What You Should and Shouldn’t Eat
At Cherrybank Dental Spa, we have had many patients (and team members!) go through the Invisalign system for straightening teeth. One of the most common questions we are asked is around eating.
Invisalign removable braces should be worn all day and all night but removed for eating. Many of our patients say this stops them snacking in between meals and has actually served as a tool for weight loss!
It is okay to drink water with the trays in, but avoid anything else for two reasons:
- Firstly, if you drink tea or coffee with the trays in, they can discolour or hold the drink in contact with your teeth for longer, causing greater discolouration
- Secondly, and most importantly of all, NEVER drink sugary drinks with the trays in. The sugar solution will sit in the tray and before you know it your lovely straight teeth will need fillings
Another benefit of Invisalign is that the trays can be used for whitening gel. This is not part of any diet of course, but is an added benefit. Please ask us for details, as we have gels that are designed for this purpose. Do not feel tempted to use over the counter products in your Invisalign trays as this could damage them.
Invisalign vs Traditional Metal Braces
Invisalign is an increasingly popular system for straightening teeth. One of its strengths is that it utilises CAD/CAM (computer aided design and manufacture) technology, which is a way of showing exactly how your teeth need to move in order to straighten. It also clearly displays how your teeth with look once the treatment is complete.
Another advantage is that the computer also works out precisely how much tooth reshaping is required and when. This is measured to 0.1mm, which is far more precise than the dentist judging by eye.
Fixed braces now have many innovations to make them less obvious, such as ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured wire. However, for real invisibility, Invisalign cannot be beaten.
Invisalign is very popular with people who need to speak as part of their job. We have many teachers, nurses, doctors and business professionals who chose Invisalign for exactly that reason.
So, how do you decide between traditional fixed braces and Invisalign? We can help you by considering your individual circumstances.
At Cherrybank, we can show you before and after photographs of people who have chosen different treatment options, and we can advise you which options would be best for you. Contact us today to learn whether Invisalign braces are an option for you!
