Our bite examination health screening from our clinics in Edinburgh and Perth includes a check of your jaw joints and how your teeth are biting together.
If required, we can carry out more detailed analysis utilising computerised sensors.
Your jaw joint (or temporomandibular) is located up close to your ear. It can be affected by dentistry and habits such as tooth grinding.
Sometimes we hear clicks which are generally harmless but can be associated with muscle tension which can be a cause of headaches or facial pain.
When you see your Cherrybank dentist for a check-up, they will first carry out a bite examination or assessment.
At Cherrybank we can check of your joints and how your teeth bite together to eradicate habits such as tooth grinding.
The dental care team at Cherrybank can measure your bite by using a computerised analysis system which is more accurate than more traditional method and the examination is so easy.
All you need to do is gently bite down on the ultra thin sensor, which is comfortably shaped for the upper arch of your mouth.
From here we produce a 3D graphical display of your mouths bite so we can immediately see where the issues are.
After the analysis has taken place, Cherrybank can suggest a treatment that can help to reduce your bite problems and get rid of these.
We would also recommend that we repeat this bite examination analysis at later date to ensure that the treatment has been effective
