Update Wednesday 25th March 2020

Dear Cherrybank Patients,

Please see below the instructions from the Scottish Government regarding Private and NHS dental services

Dental Services: COVID-19 Response – Notice for our public users

Routine dental care services in high street practices in Scotland have been suspended.

If you feel you have an URGENT dental need, in normal working hours, you should contact the practice, who can only provide advice, reassurance or telephone assessment.

DO NOT GO ALONG TO YOUR DENTIST – you should telephone your practice on their usual number.  Your dentist will be able to give you advice, including taking pain relief or prescribe antibiotics.

  • If your dentist confirms that you have an urgent dental need, if you have no symptoms of COVID-19, you will be offered an appointment at an urgent dental care centre.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 you will be contacted by staff from the designated COVID-19 urgent dental care centre.

Outside normal working hours, if feel you have an URGENT dental need, please contact NHS24.

You can find further advice regarding COVID-19 and what to do if you have symptoms on the NHS Inform Website.

We thank you all for your patience during this extremely difficult time. Stay home, stay safe and we will see you all very soon.

The Cherrybank Team

Dear friends,

I would like to inform you that due to the COVID-19 outbreak we are currently unable to work as normal following the latest guidelines from the Scottish Chief Dental Officer and the government guidelines on social distancing.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly but we feel it is our responsibility to protect you, our valued patients, our team and our families.

We will be maintaining a telephone service for advice only and Dr Fulton and I will be seeing emergencies only.

An emergency is classed as:

  1. Severe pain for over 48 hours
  2. Facial Swelling
  3. Trauma or uncontrolled bleeding

If you have any of the above symptoms, please call 07754653625 where a member of our team can provide advice or if necessary, arrange an emergency appointment. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE PRACTICE UNANNOUNCED

We understand this is inconvenient and it may mean that treatment timelines are extended. We will be able to catch up with tooth straightening and restorative dentistry when it is safe to do so. If your appointment needs to be postponed then one of my team will be in touch. I would ask that you treat my team with respect. We are doing our best in a difficult situation.

We will review the situation over the next few weeks and let you know as the advice changes.

Thank you for all your support in these uncertain times.

Stay safe and I hope to see you all soon.

Emergency Patients Only

It is with a heavy heart that we have now progressed to performing Emergency dentistry only.
Please do not attend your scheduled dental appointment until further notice.
We totally understand that this is frustrating for people who are mid-treatment and that some might feel that we should have raced on to get your treatment completed.
New information is being circulated on a daily basis and whilst we do take stringent cross-infection control measures, we do not have access to the full personal protective equipment that is used in hospitals. Due to the unknown nature of this virus, we need to prioritise the safety of our team whilst remaining able to help our vulnerable patients and those with dental emergencies that may otherwise end up in hospital, using up valuable NHS resources.
We need to take the guidelines very seriously and again we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience if your treatment timeline is extended. We will be able to catch up with tooth straightening and restorative dentistry when it is safe to do so.
Thank you so much for your understanding. We are here to listen, and offer advice, if you have specific concerns but please remember – We are doing our best in a difficult situation.
Stay safe, everyone.

We are still here for you

As the situation changes, we are following the latest guidelines by the Scottish Government, and we are still open for business.

Some new guidance means that we are providing dentistry in the most appropriate way. Some additional measures are;

  • We are asking any vulnerable people to stay at home.
  • We are telephone screening all patients before their appointment to check they don’t have any symptoms.
  • Hygiene therapists are not using ultra-sonic handpieces and will continue using hand instruments.
  • Water producing handpieces are only being used if necessary, and rubber dam and additional PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are also being used.

The health of our team and our patients’ wellbeing is our primary concern. Please don’t hesitate to contact the practice if you have any questions or concerns.

Updated 16th March 2020 09.30am

I would like to reassure all of our patients that Cherrybank Dental Spa in Perth is aware of all current government advice for healthcare professionals. We are monitoring, and following the current guidelines. All of our team members are aware that they must self-isolate and remain away from the practice if they have any symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has had symptoms of respiratory tract illness.

We want to look after you.

Everything is 100% normal as far as the dental practice is working, however, we are taking some precautions as an extra step.

Clinical sterilisation and disinfection procedures will continue at our normal high standard as a routine. We have also increased the disinfection of non-clinical areas, door handles, bathrooms and public areas in the practice.

When you visit, you will be asked to use hand sanitiser as you enter the building, and as you leave clinical areas. You will be asked to rinse with antibacterial mouthwash prior to treatment. Magazines and papers have been removed from the patient lounge.

Other than that, you shouldn’t notice any difference.

We will continue, as always, to request your up-to-date medical history at each visit and information on your current risk status before attending the practice.

  • If you have flu-like symptoms, please contact us to postpone your appointment.
  • If you are self-isolating or have been diagnosed with COV-19, please contact us to postpone your appointment.
  • If you are in dental pain, please contact us.
  • If you are at all worried about your dental appointment, please call us on 01738 624667.

We would also like to politely ask anyone who might usually accompany you, to remain at home, or perhaps in the car. It seems the best course of action for the time being.
