Dr McLean provides Root Canal or Endotontic treatments in our Edinburgh and Perth dental practices.

Since qualifying nearly fifteen years ago Dr McLean has undertaken extensive training in all aspects of dentistry, but has developed his skills to deliver endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) in complex cases.

Early in his career Dr McLean worked in oral surgery, at this time he was awarded an Action Research Training Fellowship to pursue his PhD. The following five years were spent at Harvard Medical School investigating craniofacial and skeletal development. On completing his PhD he returned from the United States to take up a position as a lecturer at Manchester University.

Dr McLean has undertaken postgraduate courses in restorative and implant dentistry. His overriding passion has from early on been endodontics. He has had extensive postgraduate education in Endodontics and has been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontology.

He currently divides his time between providing endodontic services on referral and teaching at Glasgow Dental School where he is a Senior Clinical University Teacher. Dr McLean provides all aspects of endodontic treatment, from first-time treatments to retreatment - including management of cases with complex anatomy, sclerosed canals, open apices, resorptive defects and removal of fractured posts and separated instruments.
