The Cherrybank Consultation Process
We are delighted that you are considering a Cherrybank consultation at one of our practices. This is a joint appointment with a Treatment Co-ordinator and a Dentist and will take roughly one hour. Please see an overview of the consulation process below:
Individually Designed
On arrival you will be given a tour of the practice by our Treatment Co-ordinator who would then spend time with you to gather information and discuss your specific wishes and concerns for your smile.
You will then have a private consultation with one of our highly trained dentists where he/she will review your goals and talk to you about your specific dental needs.
As in other walks of life, we can only give the best advice if we have a full picture.
The dentist will then carry out an extensive examination including an oral cancer screening and a comprehensive bite analysis to check that the pressures on your teeth are even and that your jaw joint is healthy.
Digital Photography
It really hits home when you can actually see what we see, and so we take close-up digital photos of your teeth, and even from the inside of your mouth using a special miniture intra-oral camera.
As there may be more than one solution to improving your smile we can also use the digital photo’s to point out to you the reason we are recommending the treatment course that we are.
You will given a copy of all the photographs we take on a pen drive or disk so that you can show to loved ones and refer to in future.
Gum Disease and Oral cancer Checks
As well as a full visual examination carried out by the dental surgeon, we use screening systems to help us see the potential areas of vulnerability.
Put simply, once we look into your mouth both with the naked eye and assisted by the use of the latest dental technology, we are able to set out a plan for the way forward with complete confidence.
The VELscope assists us with an oral cancer screening using the latest technology that means we are not just relying on our dentists skill and expertise but we are employing the latest dental technology in our screenings. The VELscope system is the most powerful tool available for assisting in the discovery of oral abnormalities. This means that after you examination, we will have a complete picture of your dental health and see the areas we can help you with.
(It is recommended that you have a full oral cancer scan of this sort once per year as it can be potentially lifesaving).
We may take a full set of low radiation digital dental xrays if required, to enable us to see between teeth and also under existing fillings.
The main reason we have adopted this two-step consultation process is that it allows the dentist to give you a complete examination from a health and a cosmetic dentistry perspective. It also allows the dentist to carefully plan the best treatment options for you as an individual.
The Presentation Appointment
At your follow-up appointment a few days later, our treatment co-ordinator will present to you your treatment options and answer any questions you may have.
We conduct this in an office environment, away from the dental chair, so you can relax.
They will also discuss with you the various financial options that are available.
